ACTIVE KIDS
VOUCHER PROGRAM

What is the Active Kids Voucher Program?

Parents will be able to claim up to $50 per school child, per calendar year, as a voucher to reduce the cost of sport registration or membership fees for after-school, weekend and structured fitness or physical activity, that runs for a duration of eight weeks or more.

The voucher can be redeemed towards payment of memberships or fees with an approved provider registered with the Active Kids Voucher program, each calendar year.

The initiative aims to reduce barriers to participation and help change the physical activity behaviours of children and young people in NSW.

Who is eligible to claim the voucher?

Every child (4.5 – 18 years’ old) enrolled in school from Kindergarten to Year 12 will be eligible for an Active Kids Voucher. This includes those who are home-schooled or enrolled in secondary school education at TAFE NSW.

From term 1 2024 the Active Kids Vouchers will be means tested and one voucher will be available for every child that qualifies at the beginning of term 1 and term 3.

How long are vouchers valid?

City Hoops Children eligible for redemption are:

  • kids that play in teams that compete in Easts Basketball
    and City Hoops leagues or

  • kids part of City Hoops Learn to Play and Academy Training Programs.

*Please note that Holiday Camps are excluded as they do not meet the criteria of an 8 week duration program.*

What can the voucher be used for?

The voucher can be used for registration or membership fees for structured activities of no less than eight weeks’ duration that provide a moderate to vigorous level of physical activity, for example:

  • sporting pursuits

  • swimming lessons

  • structured fitness program

  • outdoor education programs

  • approved active recreation (dance etc)

  • equipment ordinarily provided by the provider on registration for competition.

The vouchers will be redeemable through approved sport, fitness and physical activity providers upon registration.

Please note that vouchers cannot be split between multiple clubs or registrations, and therefore you may not be able to claim the full $50.

Visit the Service NSW website for more information about the Active Kids program.
